HELLO.

Five national organisations have come together to host an exciting national conference, giving learning professionals an opportunity to re-connect with the Power of Adult Learning.

Dyslexia Scotland, Lead Scotland, Learning Link Scotland, Scottish Community Development Centre (SCDC) and Workers Educational Association (WEA) Scotland need your help to address the widespread concern that adult learning has dropped down the political agenda. It’s time to make sure that the real value of adult learning, and its power to help people become confident, resilient and autonomous contributors, is heard loud and clear.  It’s time for an acknowledgement that investment in learning for adults is fundamental to building resilient, thriving communities, and to hastening the country’s journey back to economic prosperity. Let’s take adult learning out of standby mode and switch it on to show how it can change lives and transform communities. The event is packed with inspiring and provocative presentations, workshops and discussions, and plenty of opportunities to network and to tap into the power of partnership!

Get inspired...

As learning professionals, we are engaged in exciting and fundamentally important work – after all, learning is the cornerstone of a civilised and democratic society. At this conference, sector leaders will remember the vision, and remind us of why, with the challenges posed by welfare reform, and the opportunities presented by the Scottish referendum and the tentative green shoots of economic recovery, now, more than ever, it’s time for adult learning to power up!

Get connected...

This exciting day brings together adult learning practitioners, managers and policymakers from across Scotland - to reconnect with the power of adult learning, and, crucially, with each other. We all know that effective partnership working leads to delivery of world class projects, and life changing and sustainable outcomes for learners. Don’t forget to bring your business cards! Get heard...

As part of our joint commitment to consult and represent the sector, we will capture your views on how Adult Learning can fulfil its power in Scotland, and feed back to key stakeholders, including funders and policymakers.

There’ll also be opportunities to contribute to the conversation before and after the big day – look out for our Special Edition Conference Ebulletins – and make sure that you’re taking part in this national conversation!

Get inspired, Get heard, and Get connected!!

The conference takes place in the stunning John McIntyre Conference Centre – a purpose built facility situated in Edinburgh University’s Pollock Halls campus at the foot of Arthur’s Seat.
